PERFORMANCE

The performance of applications going over the WAN has a dramatic effect on usability and the ability to conduct business transactions.  WAN optimization to ensure application delivery includes not only total average transaction time, but needs to ensure that users located at performance-challenged sites (such as branch offices) still receive acceptable levels of performance. Performance is an important criterion for all networking equipment, but it is critical for a WAN link controller such as PowerLink and ShieldLink, because datacenters are central points of aggregation. As such, Ecessa products support extremely high volumes of traffic transmitted to and from sites. A simple definition of performance is how many bits-per-second the device can support. While this is extremely important, in the case of a WAN link controller, other key measures of performance include how many WAN links, concurrent sessions, domain names and how many concurrent users can be supported.

PowerLink and ShieldLink can support up to 1024 domain names for inbound service, aggregate up to 25 redundant WAN links with up to 500Mbps of bandwidth throughput, and handle up to 500,000 concurrent sessions. PowerLink and ShieldLink channel bonding supports as many as 60 locations.
