Ecessa Launches WAN Link Controllers that Provide Gigabit Bandwidth Performance

PowerLink 500 and ShieldLink 500 support increased bandwidth demands of Mid-Tier Enterprises at lower cost than other WAN optimization offerings

Plymouth, MN – May 19, 2009 – Ecessa, a leader in affordable WAN link controllers for small-to-medium sized enterprises (SME), today announced the launch of the PowerLink 500 (PL500) and ShieldLink 500 (SL500) WAN link controllers which support up to 1 Gigabit of bandwidth and provide needed network support with link aggregation. With Ecessa, organizations are now able to maximize bandwidth and network performance at lower costs then traditional WAN optimization offerings.

The PL500 and SL500 intelligently and efficiently route network traffic among two or more network links. This provides mid-tier enterprises with aggregation (multi-homing), automated inbound and intelligent outbound load balancing, site failover and failback.  Both solutions also offer WAN link redundancy and traffic shaping for optimal network reliability. In addition, the SL500 has an integrated firewall and VPN Gateway for those mid-tier enterprises that prefer one device to support WAN capabilities and security functionality.

“Our product development strategy is to listen to our customers, and build the products that they need for managing their WAN infrastructure,” states Ron Thomas, president and CEO of Ecessa. “The PL500 and SL500 enable mid-tier enterprises to meet their growing bandwidth and network needs by optimizing WAN traffic. These products also improve network and application performance and eliminate downtime for business-critical, time-sensitive applications.”

The 500EHQ model includes six Gigabit ports as well as the capacity to handle one million concurrent sessions, 60 remote sites, 25 separate WAN links (8 bonded WAN links). They utilize bandwidth aggregation to balance Internet traffic across diverse WAN links such as cable, xDSL, T1, wireless, and satellite. The site-to-site channel-bonding feature combines two or more WAN links into one large virtual network connection to provide greater available bandwidth and reliability for large file transfers between headquarters and/or branch location. Additionally, IT administrators gain greater control over network changes through this optimization layer within their WAN.

All product models, including the PL500, PL500EHQ and SL500, SL500EHQ are available immediately. The PL500 and PL500EHQ have a list price of $6,995 and $7995, while the SL500 and SL500EHQ have a list price of $7,995 and $8495.
